Deep Thoughts on Sunday

A lottery winner’s body was found buried in Florida. Abraham Shakespeare won $17 million in a 2006 lottery but first it ruined his life, and now, it appears, caused his death. BBC News said he was better off broke. Abraham told his brother he wished he’d never won. People glommed onto him and acted as friends but Abraham found that all they wanted was his money. This heartbreaking tale made me google “unhappy lottery winners.” My search yielded a sad plethora of stories. So, here I sit, on a Sunday morning, not letting the economy get to me. I work 3x as hard for 3x less money but rather than fight it, I’ve been feeling happy and fulfilled. I’m grateful for the work I do have and I’ve been concentrating on enjoying the heck out of every good moment that comes along—a playful hug with my dog, a great Law & Order episode, cappuccino with a friend and snuggling with my Stevie. Life can feel quite good if I just let it. If anybody is in the doldrums today I hope this helped a tad.
