]]> Hello fellow writers. I hope all of you will consider attending the annual American Society of Journalists and Authors conference. You do not have to be a member to attend the Saturday or Sunday sessions. I’m happy to announce that I will be speaking about web design Sunday 4/25 at 9am. Here’s the synopsis:
No need to explain why you need a website. But how to create one? In this hands-on session, designers will explain where to host, which software programs allow users to do what, choosing a name, avoiding the pitfalls, and more.
Here’s how I’m listed in the brochure:

]]> I’ve written a huge amount but now when i go back and read essays I wrote 3-5 years ago it looks completely different and needs editing. As I grow to be a stronger writer my older stuff looks weaker. It’s a good metaphor for life. As I get older and better and happier I look back at my life and wince at the memories of some of my clueless follies. Geez, deep thoughts for the wee hours of morning.

]]> DO tweet facts that can benefit others, retweet valuable content, create “How-To” blog posts, announce events and seminars, recommend books, movies, blogs, websites but try to keep it to one (or maybe two) topics. Humor is always great—be tasteful, or at least not vile, disgusting, sophomoric or foul.

DON’T tweet other people’s content without giving them credit with an RT and/or link to their blog and website. Don’t lie like a rug, don’t constantly pitch your own products/services—that is so unbelievably annoying! Don’t tell people every detail of your day—the only one who cares is your mother. Don’t tweet a million stupid jokes. Don’t make typos (wouldn’t it be funny if I’d spelled the word “typos” wrong? I checked to make sure I didn’t 😉 Please let me know your likes and dislikes about tweets.

]]> Last night I attended an Advanced Personal Essay class. It was well worth the time and cost. $100 for 4 hrs. 6:30-10:30pm at 475 Park Avenue at 31st Street. Nice space. The teacher, Paula Derrow, is the editor at Self magazine. The feedback felt spot on and the energy in the room was positive and warm.
