Good news! I just got an assignment to interview Marlo Thomas one-on-one. I’m rather pleased. As a kid I watched her on TV and loved her. I owned her album, Free To Be You and Me —a fun kids record. One phrase from that record still sticks in my head. It was one infant talking to another saying, “Bald. Bald. You’re so bald, like a ping pong ball.” It was my elementary school days. I played that record until I’d memorized it. Now it’s the 35th Anniversary of the record’s release. FYI: My Mom wore the hairstyle Marlo made popular on her TV show. It was called a Flip. It’s long hair curled up at the ends. The occasion for this press junket is Marlo has a new book coming out this month, GROWING UP LAUGHING, a memoir about her childhood and the “star entertainer friends” of her father, comedian Danny Thomas. The book also features childhood memories from Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart and other contemporary comedians.
