Last month I sat down to breakfast with Oscar-nominated actress, Vera Farmiga, to talk about Higher Ground, a film which she not only starred in, but also directed. Look for the article on the cover of the August NY Resident magazine. Of course I’ll tweet and facebook about it as soon as it’s out (you know me.)
Higher Ground opens in theaters August 12th.
As we sat across from each other I found myself staring at her eyes. They are an exotic hue of  blue . I looked up blues on a color chart to see what word would accurately describe them. I found azure the closest match.
Farmiga came across as warm and sincere, graceful and kind. I’m rooting for her continued success.
The film asks if it is possible for faith and doubt to coexist. Though the story is centered on a Christian fundamentalist religion, “Higher Ground” is not about the rights and wrongs of different faiths. “The film is about the moments in life where you lose sight of who you are,” Farmiga said, “and what you believe in, and where you are going. It’s about finding your footing during those moments of stumbling in life.
